KinderZon

This page gives an overview of activities to enable projects now and in the future. These activities can be organized by KinderZon itself, but can also be initiatives by other people and organizations.

Klumpkesrace St. Oedenrode Kiwanis Foundation
On Sunday 21st of September 2008 the third edition of the so-called Klumpkesrace was held. The Kiwanis Foundation who organizes this event has choosen KinderZon to donate 50% of its turnover.
Citizens buy a lot and its number is connected to a "klompje" (wooden shoe). These are entered all at the same time into the river Dommel. The ones arriving as first at a certain point won prices.

Playsets for children in the Ukraine
Thanks to a city in the centre of the Netherlands and SITA we have transported nice secondhand toysets for children in the Ukraine.

Dutch Queens day 2006
On the so-called Queens market a 10-year old girl has sold all kinds of things. She had chosen KinderZon as the charity to support. Thanks very much Franka, great initiative!

Citizen group 's Gravenhage
The locality Bosweide (750 houses) in ’s-Gravenhage (Den Haag) has got an active citizen group.

The activities they organize are different, like hiding Easter eggs for the children, Sinterklaas and Sint Maarten, but also a wine-tasting for all the inhabitants of Bosweide, social gatherings and a Sports Day.

During the 2005 Sinterklaas event children from this neighbourhood created all kinds of art. As sales were good, there was a nice amount for KinderZon. Thanks to the Dutch kids who supported streetkids with their efforts. A great intiative!

Rotary Son
On Tuesday 20^th of September 2005 Rotary Club Son organized a Golf Tournament at the Golfclub of Steenhoven in Postel (Belgium). The revenue of this tournament was allocated to the benefit of the KinderZon foundation. KinderZon is focussed to support less-privileged children in the Netherlands and abroad. On a sunny day 72 players came to Postel.

After the match Rotary chairman Paul Hendrikx introduced Hans Dessauvagie who is the treasurer of KinderZon. He gave background about the goals of the foundation and particularly about the streetkids project in Lima. This project is to set-up a network of schools to attract streetkids. The KinderZon project financed the central location, the renting and decorating of the first 3 schools and 6 months of running costs. For KinderZon it is a simple rule that 100% of the funds will directly benefit the kids. With the support of Rotary Son the final amount to financially close this project was made possible.

KinderZon wants to thanks all the members of Rotary Son and Leon Heemskerk in particular for the contact between both organisations.
