Pre-school education for minorities (India)
KinderZon was discussing their support with the local Organisation. We had en have a good feeling about this organisation and the people behind this initiative. However, we took the decision not to proceed with this project. The reason was that we insist on a thorough report and ‘proof of evidence’ before transmitting funds. What has been send to us looked good, but was not detailed enough to be 100% ensured that the money will be used  on the right way. We do not want to make the perception that there is something wrong with the project or the organisation behind, but for us the communication was not satisfying enough.

Children from ethnic minorities drop out of school without help
Minorities in Bangladesh face a situation of arrears compared to the Bengal majority. One of the problems for the minorities is education. All primary schools are held in Bangla. The non-Bangla kids do not speak this language, but only speak their own language. Besides this, the non-Bangla children are badgered by the Bangla kids. This all results in school dropout rates up to 80% within one year.

Without education there is little hope for these children. They only have small chances that they can break out of their vicious circle of poverty and exploitation.

A committed local non-governmental organization (NGO) works for 10 years to the benefit of minorities in the Dinajpur District. This organization offers pre-school education. This initiative helps the children to learn to speak Bangla, and other education capabilities, before they join regular schools. They are also taught discipline to stay at school and join classes.

The self-confidence of these children grows and also the parents are more aware of the necessity of education for their kids. A start of new chances!

This project has a successful history. The first group of this project is now in their 4th year and about 80% of the children is still attending school which is the reverse percentage!

A local organisation wants to continue and grow the number of schools. Therefore they need additional funding. To set up and run 10 more schools for two years they need € 10.000. This means a limited amount of € 1.000 per school.
