Project for young mothers and their baby's in Mumbai
In Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay, capital of India) many girls are pregnant at very young ages. The fathers are either unknown or neglecting their duty to look after the mother and their mutual child. Within poor families there is no room to feed even more mouths. This results in young mothers who wander with the recently born baby’s. Every day it is a struggle for life to find some shelter and food. Can you imagine how vulnerable these young mothers are to criminality, exploitation and rape. Unfortunately the local police will not help these people either.

In this specific project we focused on a group of mothers who found a temporary shelter at the railway station. Using this place as their basis they tried to keep themselves and their baby’s alive. KinderZon financed medical treatment and meals.

It is essential to KinderZon that we work with a reliable partner who ensures that all the money contributes to these mothers and their baby’s. We found this partner in the Dutch Mumbai Foundation who has realized many projects in India for years now.
