Streetkids in Lima (Peru): How and why?
An important step in reception centers for streetkids in Peru
Peru has thousands of children who live on the street. Lima as Peru’s capital has the most of them. Although there are more projects for streetkids in Peru, there is still an urge for more help. KinderZon, together with the Bruce Peru organization, will open-up a network of reception centers for streetkids in Lima. We can not solve all the misery in which the kids daily have to live. However, we are confident that this initiative will offer hundreds of kids a somewhat better future!

The how and why of streetkids
Young girls (starting from about 10 years old) want to run away from their misery by becoming pregnant. Unfortunately, the fathers (in many cases also children themselves) will not stay and look after the mothers and their mutual baby’s. It is not uncommon that these jobless mothers have 4 to 5 kids before they have the age of 20. Young children who can give tourists a spontaneous feeling of “Oh, how adorable” are send to beg on the streets or to sell candy. Kids growing older and losing their sweet and innocent looks are facing thin borders to criminality.

Our help is focused on continuity and independence
In order to set up new reception centers the first step is to rent a central place to base the (international) volunteers. In this place also the language courses will be held, Spanish for foreigners and English for more wealthy locals. The volunteers are responsible for the courses and all the other work to which they commit themselves with heart and soul. The money to be earned by the language courses is 1 on 1 used for maintaining the local reception centers in the tail districts. In our project the money needed is meant to start the central center, renting and decorating of the first 3 reception centers and to finance the running costs for the first 6 months.

Reliability of the local partner first
KinderZon only works together with 100% reliable partners. It is a simple demand that all the money will go 1 on 1 to the children. Bruce Peru is an organization which is successfully active in Peru to help out streetkids. The founder Bruce Thornton is working for almost 30 years to help out children in bad situations all over the world. Our own contacts in Peru informed us that we don’t have to doubt about this organization, it is safe and secure. End of April we will make a private trip (of course privately paid) to see the progress of this project. More information about the Bruce Peru organization can be found on http://bruceperu.org/bpomission.html

Ambition
The local government of the tail districts regularly cooperate by offering free places for the reception centers. With our donations to set up the basis, the yield of the language courses and the major effort of the volunteers, we will together ensure a better and safer place for streetkids offering food, medical help and education.

Can we also count on your support to make this project happen!!!!
