Holiday for children with HIV: Our project
In December 2003 (summer time in Peru) San Camillo Home organized a holiday for children with aids who in many cases also live in bad social circumstances.

From Pisco they enjoyed the sea, beach and nature. A group of 50 children between the age of 6 and 12 stayed in the Luisa de Marillac’s school which is supervised by the Sisters of the Charity of Vincent Paul. Of course the kids were accompanied by people who took care of their social- and medical welfare.

Some of the activities which were organized for the kids:
- playing on the beach and in the sea;
- visiting the Paracas Reserve and the museum;
- boattrip to the Ballestas islands

Various children had never been on a boat before, so this was quite an experience. Between all activities there was enough time to discuss together all the issues that were important to them.

Some time after the trip there was a reunion. On this day the children could meet each other again and nourish their new friendship. One example of harsh reality is the story of César, one of the kids of the group. After returning home his father died from an unexpected pneumonia. His mother was now alone to cope with this even more complex situation.

The children have to face daily reality, they have no dreams, only the certainty that they will die too young.

KinderZon has the hope that by enabling this holiday, it was made possible that the kids had at least a short moment of rest and being relatively light-hearted.

KinderZon made this trip possible. To organize this 3-weeks trip for 50 children with all the staff did not cost more than € 55 per child. If you feel enthusiastic about this initiative, support us to enable this another time! Please donate your gift with the description ‘Camilo’.
